Sightfusion
About the project
SightFusion is an application that combines the shooting support software called 'SightFusion for Capture' that controls a digital camera and the web service 'SightFusion for Inspection' that automatically analyzes cracks of multiple shot images.
It provides a crack image measurement solution for inspection support which can be shoot on a Windows tablet using the lightweight Nikon mirrorless digital camera "Z50" and NIKKOR lens.
Design
App was designed for surveyor and bridge inspector.
Problem statement
Cracks in a building cause a great threat to civil structures. Manual inspection can be ineffective, lack reliability and consume more resources.
Manually measuring crack is time consuming and a tedious work for the surveyor to do.
Surveyors climb on scaffolds and manually measure kms of bridge structures to quantify the damages. The workflow is not precise and effective.
Bridge inspector requires a precise crack report to send it to their higher officials to repair the crack which needs quick fix. Manual Measurement sometimes leads to miscalculation.

Measuring the dimension of the cracks using crack gauge and ruler consumes more time and need more human efforts
Inspecting high elevated bridge using crane and rope access are unsafe for human
Most large-scale bridges span over water making close visual inspection a difficult task

Solution
Surveyor can capture the images of the bridge structure using Nikon Camera. The captured images can be uploaded to the application to do the automatic analyzing identifying and stitching of the cracks.
Bridge inspector can generate the crack report with the details of crack width and height. Application provides sound feedback for user to avoid often viewing the screen about capturing.
