Trimble Connect Mobile

About the project

Trimble Connect is a collaborative application for construction projects. It allows the users to collaborate,view, access and update the BIM models. It can be accessible in all platform.

Design

Trimble connect is  designed for civil workers, in that frequent users of mobile platform are superintendent

 

Team and I conducted the user interview to study about the user. Here are a few set of findings from the interview data: 

 

Managing the job sites

  • Visiting the sites and assigning  the work to the people. Working with Logistics, crane operator

 

Work-environment safety 

  • To make ensure safe  working environment 

  • If any problem identified, he/she should register the danger and call people to solve it. 

 

Collaboration with other superintendent 

  • Multiple superintendents works on large job sites

  • Approximately,2 or 3 superintendents work in one single projects.

 

Monitor the quality 

  • Check the quality of what they had constructed

  • Check the mobile drawing to ensure the same design

Problem statement

UI Inconsistency among platform

Inconsistency among platform which is creating the trust issues among users. Users feel overwhelmed by using different types of navigation for web and mobile platform.

Measurement

Received the feedback from the user about the issues while using measurement. User finding it hard to measure by using finger on top of the model. User can’t see where they are pointing out.  

User having an issue with less tapping zones.

Solution

UI Inconsistency among platform

We had a frequent collaboration with web and mobile team to improve the UI consistency. Design system and UI behaviour has been re-defined for both web and mobile platform. Visual designs have  been created for each screens.

Measurement

Solved the problem by having cross hair approach which avoids the problem of user hiding the model through finger. User can simply tap on the model to point out.
